Designed by Spanish Franciscans and built by Spanish settlers and Native Americans using earth and wood, the Rancho de Taos Church in Taos, New Mexico is considered among the finest examples of Franciscan architecture. Proportion, form and line characterize the Church’s design. When combined with the perpetual dance of light and shadow, the Church evokes a unique sense of force and grace. Completed circa 1815, the Rancho de Taos Church continues to serve its local community.
