RED LAKE PEAK AND LENTICULAR CLOUD

Red Lake Peak, which is located about 10-miles southwest of Lake Tahoe, was the first identifiable peak in the Sierra Nevada Mountains to be climbed by Euro-Americans, John C. Fremont and Charles Preuss. On February 14, 1844, Fremont viewed Lake Tahoe from the peak and provided the first written account of its existence.
